Overview

Nyaungshwe is situated in the Southern Shan State close to the marvelous Inle Lake. Nyaungshwe lies about 130 km northeast of Naypyidaw and 16 km south of Inbawhkon. This destination is home to about 1,000 residents.

Nyaungshwe's climate is temperate and generally warm. Nyaungshwe has less rain in winter than in summer. The annual average temperature in Nyaungshwe is 21.4 ° C with the average rainfall of 1584 mm each year.

These days, Nyaungshwe has become a bustling tourist center with dozens of hotels and guesthouses, an increasing number of restaurants and bars. Inle Lake is one of the two largest freshwater lakes in Myanmar located on the mountain about 600 km from Yangon. Inle Lake has many attractive locations to explore such as Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, Dancing Cat Monastery, Flower Village, Pa-O Village, In Dein village, etc. Especially, the Ywama Floating Market opens five days a session, which is also a chance to buy and discover the indigenous culture. In the south of Inle Lake, there are remains of the Indein ancient city with brick buildings dating back to the 11th century. In addition, Shwe Yaunghwe Kyaung, Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery, Htat Eian Cave Temple and Ywa Thit Monastery are the famous beautiful destinations that you should not miss when visiting here.
